“Do you regret your decision?”
Well here we are with only 21 days to go before the group sets off on our trek up Mount Kilimanjaro. Where does the time go? It was a little over a year ago when I made the decision to climb Kili and recently someone asked me “….do you regret your decision?”.
I’ve researched everything I can about the trek from the sleepless nights and sleep deprivation, the seriously bad headaches, the lack of oxygen, the risk of death, the dirt, the aches and pains, the constant need to go for a pee, the huge temperature changes (30c to -30c), walking with 6 women (only one other man going!) and everything else you can think of.
Its cost a fortune (I’m guessing over £1,000) to get the kit required for this type of trek. I’ve had to pay my Doctor for her to just sign a medical form. The vaccinations have hurt in more ways than one – they’re expensive and they hurt you’re your arm!
So do I regret my decision? Absolutely not! Despite all of the negatives and risks I’m so excited to have this unbelievable opportunity and the money raised is going to help Children of the future. Sounds like a massive win all round to me.
Already think about Everest Base Camp in November 2011. Do you want to come along?
